Tigrezs sat there stunned at what she was seeing.  One moment she was seeing the only person that had truly cared for her shot and fallen to the ground.  The next thing she remembered, Lilith’s hand was on her shoulder and Tigrezs’ hands where covered in the blood of someone she had never seen before.  Tigrezs started to sob in Lilith’s arms.  Lilith kneeled down and started to stroke her head like a mother comforting a child.
“It is okay. You were not yourself,” Lilith cooed is a calm voice.  “You were only trying to protect me and I thank you for that.” Her words filled Tigrezs with relief and her sobs became lessened.
“But why?  Why, can’t I remember when I do these things? I just…”  Tigrezs’ voice trailed off as she clutched the hand to her chest.  She looked down in silence as her hands felt her slightly larger bosom that now rested on her chest.  “And why do I keep changing!” she yelled after a few moments and then she abruptly fell into tears.
Lilith sat down and took Tigrezs into her arms and tried to calm her down.  Suddenly Tigrezs caught the scent of blood in the air.  The realization that Lilith must have been wounded from the gun shot dawned on Tigrezs. Tigrezs reached for Lilith’s shoulder and as Tigrezs’ hand made contact with Lilith’s shoulder Lilith inhaled sharply.  Lilith’s hand flew up and clasped the wound in response to the new pain in her shoulder, and pinned Tigrezs’ had to the wound.  Tigrezs’ crying was turning into weeping, thinking this was all her fault and wishing for something, anything she could do to help!  Just as that moment Tigrezs felt a tingling sensation on her hand.  As Tigrezs pulled her hand back, pulling Lilith’s hand off as well, she saw a green light around the opened wound. It was closing.  Tigrezs did not make a noise as she looked into Lilith’s eyes for answers, but all that was there was confusion.
“What was that?” Lilith whispered out after a couple of heart beats passed.
“I thought it was you,” Tigrezs responded in as much confusion as Lilith.
“You healed me? But how?  You’re not a high priest.  Even in my world it would take them few minutes to heal a mere scratch!”
“It might have something to do with this,” Tigrezs said as she reached up and touched her large furry ears.  The feeling of pain and pleasure was still there as her finger started to feel the shape of her new ears and softness of the fur that covered them.  “But how would this…” Tigrezs trailed off as she continued to massage her large furry ears, apparently distracted.
Lilith reached over and pulled Tigrezs’ hand away from her ears.  Then is a serene but pleading voice, “We need to get out of here before he wakes up.”  Lilith pointed down to the man who was barley alive and lying beside the two women.
“We should help him before we go” Tigrezs said
“He attacked without provocation. If he lives or dies is not our concern,” Lilith argued in a harsh voice as she stood up.
“We should still help him!” Tigrezs pleaded as though she was trying to wipe away the sins of her actions.  Lilith looked down at Tigrezs and she knew that nothing she said would dissuade Tigrezs.
“Very well but be quick about it!”  Lilith snapped.  Before the words were out of her mouth Tigrezs was carrying the man back into the room she woke up in.  Tigrezs bounds his injuries in haste and shuts the door behind her as she leaves the cabin.
All at once she was aware of every sound around her and they started to play with her mind.  So many little things that she had never heard before where pounding in her brain.  And out there in the rush of sound was a voice that she had heard before.  It was too far away for her to make out what it was saying.  Everything suddenly came into clarity as Lilith spoke.
“Will he live?” she asked with an almost cynical sound to her voice.
“What?” Tigrezs muttered, and then said as she was brought back to the moment by Lilith’s voice, “He should be fine with some bed rest.”
“Well I figure we have only a couple of hours of daylight left, so we should put some distance between us and this cabin,” Lilith went on calm and collected.  “I flew above the canopy of trees and it looks like there is a clearing off in that direction,” she continued, pointing towards the setting sun.  “I would fly carrying you but if there is others like that man out here I would rather meet them on the ground than be shot at in the air.”  It had been a long day already and even with her best efforts Lilith’s voice told Tigrezs’ new sense of hearing that Lilith was on the verge of losing it. They both where.  “We should be able to make it before nightfall if we are lucky,” Lilith finished.
“After you,” Tigrezs said to her new friend. “You probably know how to walk in the woods better then I and not lose your way.” Tigrezs gave a confident smile as Lilith started towards the woods. Tigrezs followed.
They entered a small meadow in the woods with grass about shin high and a little stream running through it about an hour later.  The sun was setting and it made the meadow a beautiful full pinkish red.
“We should sleep right on the edge here and find something to shelter ourselves incase of rain,” Lilith said, breaking the silence after a moment.  By that time the blackness of night was starting to take over the sky. A small lean-to large enough for the two women was built.  After that they sat in the meadow watching the stars come out.
“Do you think there is a way home for us Lilith?” Tigrezs asked, not really expecting an answer.  She was starting to feel happy here and enjoyed Lilith’s company.  Tigrezs then rolled over on her stomach and on all fours crawled over to Lilith.  As placed her head into Lilith’s lap Tigrezs lied down.
“I don’t know,” Lilith said stroking Tigrezs’ head.  After a breeze passed through the meadow Lilith continued “but I sure hope there is a way for all of us to go where we belong.”
